The Place

The sleepy coastal town of Pagudpud is known for its beautiful shorelines and white sand beaches but life here isn’t all about lullabies courtesy of the crashing waves or lazy, dozy afternoons, it also offers a perfect holiday spot for adrenaline junkies. While this is a departure from the usual description of Pagudpud, what with its tranquil and laidback image, the Ilocano municipality upped its game when Kingfisher Kitesurfing Hotel started operations in (November 11). Because of KF, as the resort is known to local windsurfers and kitesurfers, Pagudpud earned street cred for being the kitesurfing capital of the north. Today, the hotel remains the preferred hangout for professional kite and windsurfers from around the world and the only place in Ilocos Norte that offers lessons to those who want to learn the sport.

Lush foliage, coral reefs, a lagoon that breaks waves, and windy seas are the very ingredients that make KF the perfect kitesurfing destination. Between (October to Mid April), when it’s windy at Kingfisher, watersports enthusiasts flock to the remote Ilocos Norte town. And every morning during peak season, the hotel’s beachfront is bustling with activity.

Aside from picturesque surroundings, adrenaline-pumping activities, delicious food, and well-appointed rooms and suites, Kingfisher is also home to furry residents in the shape of (7 golden retrievers Toby, Maui, Bogarts, Chewy, Roxy, Quarantine, Lockdown, and Vaccine) Golden Retrievers and two St. Bernards. These fur babies usually accompany visitors out at sea or influence holidaymakers to take a nap on one of the hammocks placed under the trees. Bubu, one of the St. Bernards, teaches visitors that there is no shame in sleeping on the sand while Chewey, one of KF’s more senior furry residents, inspires holidaymakers to have lots of fun under the sun.

During the off-peak season, when the water is calm, the hotel is a haven for those who just want to relax and recharge. It is peaceful in this part of Ilocos Norte, especially at night. At Kingfisher, a good night’s rest is always guaranteed.

The Cuisine

The hotel’s main kitchen is usually busy preparing Filipino, Ilocano, and continental dishes on these days, too. The talented kitchen staff prepares some of the best pizzas and breads in town and they are always served fresh. Ilocano cuisine is still the kitchen’s specialty though. These savory dishes are quite special because they showcase flavors, spices, and ingredients that are intertwined with the culture and traditions of Ilocos Norte. Paired with gorgeous local and international wines, travellers staying at KF are in for a gastronomic experience. Authentic Japanese food made from freshly caught fish is also served at Kingfisher upon request.

Who We Are

Our History

Kingfisher officially opened to the public in November of 2011. It is a simple, pet friendly destination located in a remote area called Caparispisan in the province of Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte. This place is the perfect hideaway if you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing vacation by the sea. Here, we value your privacy while maintaining an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie among guests.

It started off with nipa huts and has grown to include a wide variety of rooms ranging from cabanas, casitas, superior rooms, beach huts, and our premiere suite. Our main market are mostly Europeans, Australians, Americans, and expats from HongKong, Singapore, and Manila. We have recently started having guests from the province of Ilocos and balik-bayan tourists (Filipino returnees). The kitchen offers a wide variety of cuisine suited for both local and international palates and serving size is quite hefty so please do share with friends.

Outdoor activities offered by the resort include kite boarding, windsurfing, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, snorkeling, swimming, volleyball, and other recreational sports for an active lifestyle. The shoreline is a mix of fine, white sand and corals while the beach has a stretch of over 200 meters of flat, shallow waters with sea grass, sand, corals, rocks and a variety of marine life. There is no undercurrent in the flat water area hence it is perfectly safe for kids and non-swimmers.
